Couldn’t have said it better! Car-centric designs need to die. I’m sure that in 20 years we will look back at how cities are built today and be shocked to think that people used to live in those conditions…noise, pollution, space, can’t even walk 10 meters without having to wait for a traffic light…
I will add that another major problem with the car-centric approach is that not only roads, but parked cars are another major space taker. Just take a look at how many cars are parked in every streets. This is even more ridiculous when you get to know that cars are parked 90% of the time. Let that sink in slowly… Hopefully buying a car will soon become unnecessary thanks to autonomous driving and ride-hailing services.
